As mentioned before we are filming at what was once The Broward Correctional institution. This location was a women's prison which housed death row inmates. The prison was built to house men but was only used for women. Its located in south west ranches. It housed death row inmates till 2003.
We went to our location, the abandoned womens prison, to film but the lighting wasn't right and we didn't have the neccessary lighting tools to film anyway. This trip turned out to be more of a recon mission, which wasn't all that bad. we got to figure out exactly where we want everything to be filmed and the angles of the filming. Now when we go back we will be ready to kill it!

Sound Effects in Science Fiction and Horror Films Kelleghan, F. (n.d.). Sound Effects in Science Fiction and Horror FIlms. Retrieved March 16, 2015, from http://filmsound.org/articles/horrorsound/horrorsound.htm For those of you looking to incorporate some cool sound effects into their piece this is something to definitely check out. The article has multiple tips from the composer's perspective that allows you to gain insight on what the producer is trying to achieve by using said sound effects. For Example, the composer does want you to be aware of his technique. The most obvious soundtrack technique, known as ''mickeymousing,'' is just barely considered respectable by respectable film composers. Mickeymousing is when the music blatantly matches the action. When King Kong climbs the Empire State building, the music likewise rises and falls with each of his movements. In what has become a cliché, mickeymousing even has the music giving away the action about to happen.

The Filming will take place this weekend. The reason we choose to the movie in the style we did is because we want the audience to be able to relate therefore be fully engaged while watching. All our actors will be our group members. As i mentioned before in my last posting we are focusing on the total POV style but we may have some Gopro shots that are not POV as well, Such as the car pulling up. Though we are thinking about sticking the Gopro on the hood of the car even to get that unique POV.

The Filming Begins

As a group for our project we determined that a scary movie would be the most fun to create. Psychological thriller are a huge market in today's world of media. Psychological thrillers come in all shapes and sizes and we are choosing the horror route. The film's name is called "Midnight" is gonna be about 4 high school kids who were bored and wanted to go on an adventure in the woods and stumble upon an abandoned womens prison that could potentially be haunted. Not only will all our group members be in it acting but filming as well. We decided we wanted to go more of a "Blair Witch Project" route. What I mean by this is the majority of the the film is gonna be filmed via iphones from each individuals point of view while exploring in the woods. Then once inside we a going to take the single Gopro on the head approach from one persons POV. The reason we believe, based on thorough research, is that when you watch a scary movie through Pov filming it plays a quintessential role in drawing the viewer in and putting said viewer in the shoes of the person in the movie. The Brain feels more involved thus more Psychologically "Thrilled."
